Historical
Mustard mill

The historic mustard mill takes our visitors back to the times when mustard was still produced untouched by preservatives and artificial ingredients. In order to experience this traditional pleasure, the mustard mill offers the program “Make your own mustard” for groups of 10 people or more.

The adventure program is designed for young and old. Here our guests can experience the secrets of mustard with all their senses.
In earlier times, mustard was a pure remedy and only later established itself as a delicacy in the food sector.

Traditional enjoyment - for 200 years

The historic mustard mill Birgel in the Eifel is a destination for children and families, but is also suitable for inclusion in company outings and company parties.

This is how it's done

Both the brown and the yellow mustard seeds are ground in an old grinding mill and then mixed with water and vinegar in a mash tun to form a mustard paste. Sugar and salt as well as the secret spices of the mustard miller give our mustard its own gourmet taste.

Our mustard mill live in action

Experience and taste a process and a product that is produced in an almost 200-year-old mustard mill in proven quality. The mustard mill was repaired in such a way that the production method of mustard can be shown again today in its full range.

Of course, you can also look over the mustard miller’s shoulder and watch the production process. Senfmüller Erwin vd Mühle produces his mustards according to old and self-developed recipes.

Our mustard
