The historic Birgel watermill is a wonderful destination for senior citizens’ outings and offers a nostalgic experience that reminds many older visitors of times gone by. With great enthusiasm, you can explore the fully functional mills that once formed the heart of our community. You can find a summary of this information in our flyer.
Please note: All sights in our mill are at ground level, barrier-free and can be reached via short routes.
In our bakery, visitors can watch how sourdough is turned into loaves of bread. You will be shown and explained how bread is baked in the stone ovens. This bread can then be purchased. All our mills can be reached at ground level and are also easily accessible for older people.

The spiciness of the mustard is tested in our mustard mill and everyone is served a schnapps or liqueur from our own production in our schnapps distillery.

Participants now have the opportunity to browse through our mill shop. Here you can buy all the products that are made in our mill. It is also possible to order the products conveniently to your home via our online store.

The day is over and the senior excursion to the Eifel to Birgel to the Historic Water Mill was a complete success. So we are happy with the guest about the great experiences and hear the sentence again and again: “This trip was great! Of course, we can also put together an individual senior excursion for you. You are also welcome to end this day with dinner, the surcharge is €5.00 per person. Surcharge on public holidays and weekends (Sat. & Sun.) +15%, from 70 persons HG by arrangement.
Our bus parking lot is large and offers plenty of space for buses. Two covered parking spaces ensure that coaches can park protected from the weather. Many coach drivers are already enthusiastic about this practical offer.
