Dear Erwin, dear mill team,
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for organizing our wedding reception at the Birgeler Mühle – and not just “just for the organization”, but for a day that could not have been more beautiful for us. From the very first moment – at the reception with sparkling wine, beer and fresh mill bread – to the last dance deep into the night, everything was just perfect. The opportunity to spend the entire day on your mill grounds was a huge benefit for us and our guests: your experience and passion was evident everywhere. No change of location, no hectic pace – this created a special sense of calm and connection. Experiencing everything in such a loving, natural and at the same time perfectly coordinated setting was simply wonderful. While we were out taking photos, our guests were able to enjoy the sun, the atmosphere and even a tour of the mill – a real experience.
The evening in the great hall with a fantastic 4-course menu and service that was always on hand exceeded our expectations. The overnight stay in the half-timbered house was also a real highlight. We fell into bed around 4 a.m. full of happiness and were able to end the day in peace over breakfast with our overnight guests.
Dear Erwin, you can feel in every detail that the mill is your life’s work. The passion with which you and your team have filled this house is not only impressive, but touches us deeply. You made the most beautiful day of our lives possible. We were simply able to celebrate, enjoy and be present at every moment – because you thought of everything in the background. Many of our guests have told us how thrilled they were with the atmosphere, the food, the ambience and, above all, the hospitality at the Mühle. We can confirm this: No wish was left unfulfilled.
As a small token of our gratitude, we are enclosing a tip for you with this letter – for the coffee fund, for a well-deserved after-work beer or whatever you would like to use it for.
We say thank you. Thank you for everything. For your warmth, your aplomb, your commitment – and for a day that we will never forget. And one thing is certain: we will visit the Birgeler Mühle again!

We were with you yesterday with Alt-Lindenthal. It was a wonderful day that I will remember for a long time to come! The mustard course was very exciting, as was the bread baking. However, I would particularly like to emphasize Karl, who gave the tour with such passion and love that it made our hearts beat faster. I am shockingly in love (laugh…). You rarely find such gems these days.
The whole team spoiled us with a gracious friendliness that is second to none. And the “boss in the ring” is also a one-off and a jewel. A thousand thanks again, you gained a new fan club in Cologne yesterday.

We had the pleasure of spending three unforgettable days with you. Everything was wonderful, from our original and comfortable apartment with garden, to the rich breakfast buffet and the delicious 4-course menus, to the guided tour of the entire mill site. We were impressed by the fact that all the mills and equipment work and that the home-made products are served in the restaurants. We tried all kinds of bread, mustard, beer and some spirits and more and found them excellent. Tip: you can buy everything!
It is an inhabitable, living museum with an educational and fun factor, built and run entirely privately by Erwin and Mariette. An unusual feature is the millstream visible through glass floors in the restaurant, which is still used as a source of energy – in addition to solar power. Sustainability can be experienced everywhere here. This also includes the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that prevails both towards the guests and towards each other.
I was delighted by this exuberant joy of decorating with art and junk. Old and not so old, special and banal and every everyday object, no matter how small, is valued and has a place … and these beautiful floral decorations everywhere – thank you!

Even if it was only 1 night, we liked it very much. The rooster at 4:00 a.m. and the chattering of the geese reminded me of our last place of residence in a small village. It was fantastic and I slept better than I had for a long time.
We will definitely be back soon, then for a few days longer.

The Saturday evening before yesterday we were in your splendid restaurant for a really delicious feast for the palate and were also served by a pretty waitress with a radiant smile. On top of that, there was the pleasant table talk with your boss Erwin! The lucky 13 of us (= extended May family) were very pleased and satisfied with you and will warmly recommend your super establishment – and hope to visit you again sometime – despite the 130 km distance!
In addition to all the praise, we would have liked to know why you label your brandies as ‘…brandies’. We have also tasted these and found them to be delicious!
