The historic watermill in Birgel is a popular destination in the beautiful Vulkaneifel. Here you can not only dine in a wonderful old-world ambience, but also spend the night in cozy half-timbered houses. In addition, the watermill is an ideal starting point for exploring the sights of the area.

A particularly popular destination for all active vacationers is the summer toboggan run in Mechernich; this is only about 40 kilometers away from the watermill in Birgel. This is part of the “Eifeltor Adventure World” and offers pure fun, action and thrills over a total length of 680 meters. The train starts right next to the restaurant and leads down through several curves. However, the ride is completely harmless and also suitable for children.
A very special experience is a ride on the summer toboggan run in Mechernich in the evening, because then it is impressively illuminated.
A single trip on the toboggan run costs 1.50 euros – it gets cheaper if you decide to make several trips at the same time.
The toboggan run is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the summer months and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in November. Unfortunately, you cannot use the summer toboggan run in Mechernich in the winter months – this would not be possible due to the weather conditions.
In the immediate vicinity of the summer toboggan run there is a 350 meter long quad course, so you can see: the “Eifeltor Adventure World” offers something for every taste and is an ideal destination for an eventful day.
Trampoline and adventure excavator are available for the very little ones. In addition, there is a mini golf course on which you can prove your skills and the indoor play arena is also very popular with the public.
Of course, physical well-being is also taken care of. In the play arena you can fortify yourself in the small bistro; when the weather is nice, the grill hut is often used.

When you arrive back at the watermill in Birgel, you can indulge your culinary delights here – certainly eagerly awaited after the sporting activity. A total of four historical rooms are available to visitors, in which the typical mill meal is served – the choice is not easy. The “Wirtshaus zum Sägewerk” offers regional specialties as well as exclusive dishes, while the small half-timbered room is particularly suitable for cozy hours. You can then go to bed in one of the half-timbered rooms.
